Hibiya Okuroji, documenting
Architecture Festival Day One. Hibiya Okuroji, around 10:15.
This is how the work starts. Phone held up to the brick, looking for where three repair campaigns meet in the same voussoir. The arch is warm. The morning light is coming from the east and hitting the Klinker face at exactly the right angle. The brick goes orange.
I am not looking at the camera. There is no camera. There is a brick arch from 1912 that still holds railway trains and now also holds bars, and I am trying to understand what it knows about infrastructure and time.
The work that came from this morning is Tokio-Wohnbogen 1955. The image came from the question. The question came from standing here.
