Connecting the folds
A second look at the 1968 concrete building south of Reload. Phase one showed it in the version where the staircase held its place. Phase two reads what the staircase does once it holds.
The staircase joins. Three unequal thresholds along its run: a steel utility door at ground level, two wood residential doors at the landings, each in a shallow concrete recess of about thirty centimeters. One door has been recently repainted at the frame. The other carries twenty years at the grain.

Fumihiko Maki, Investigations in Collective Form, the Oku essay: folding rather than depth. The folding here lives at the doors. The staircase carries the connection between them.

A building that does not exist, in the version where it works.
